I got one from a war zone Army nurse who had papers from her commanding officer giving her permission to carry it for personal protection. Many Germans carried them as well. As the title states this is a bicycle (vélo in French) dog gun. It was developed in the early days of bicycle travel to ward off attacking dogs but also made an excellent concealed weapon used by soldiers.
