gwb123 Posted May 6, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted May 6, 2020 Photos are from the article. I love the mounted 30. cal, most likely for show than any expectation of actually needing to use it. T Ambrosini Posted May 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted May 6, 2020 Wow..... Nice! Looking for items related to the Ninth Coast Artillery District and 6th Coast Artillery Regment Airman, give me a 341 !!!!
Paul70 Posted May 6, 2020 Share #5 Posted May 6, 2020 That is not Patton's. A friend of mine has pictures of Patton's car and it had armor plates welded on the bottom and in the quarter panels. The deck lid was also welded up with armor. This car has none of that. He also told me this same car was for sale a few years ago with no registration number and now has it. Again, this is what a friend told me who even has photos for the archives of the armor being added per Patton's request. manayunkman Posted May 6, 2020 Share #6 Posted May 6, 2020 Whether the provenance is there or not it’s still great looking. How can you determine without question that Patton used this vehicle?
Proud Kraut Posted May 25, 2020 Share #7 Posted May 25, 2020 An interesting site about Patton´s command cars and it´s duplicates. http://www.pattonthirdarmy.com/pattoncommandcar.html
sky eagle Posted May 25, 2020 Share #8 Posted May 25, 2020 Yes, the 30 Cal is nice!
ajbUSWM Posted May 26, 2020 Share #9 Posted May 26, 2020 Patton's late WWII Jeep is at the Quartermaster Museum at Ft. Lee VA. It still has the Mercedes seat that he found more comfortable. And yes .... they have complete provenance The curator gave me a tour which included an up close look at the Jeep. Great museum ... I recommend a visit.
ajbUSWM Posted May 26, 2020 Share #10 Posted May 26, 2020 Photo of General Patton's WWii Jeep ... this came from the Army directly to the Army Quartermaster Museum ... no third party involved.
GSP Posted May 26, 2020 Share #11 Posted May 26, 2020 I believe this command car was auctioned awhile ago, and was lacking provenance. I'll edit this post if I find the link to the last time it was auctioned.
GSP Posted May 26, 2020 Share #12 Posted May 26, 2020 I believe this is the same command car, featured in an article of Hemmings. It states that it did not meet it's reserve in the previous auction, where it was bid up to $60,000.https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2017/05/08/could-this-dodge-wc57-command-car-have-been-pattons-own
