ken88 Posted May 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2020 Hi, I have a buckle boot that unfortunately has a broken leather attachment tab/loop. The rest of the boot is in great unworn condition so the damage is kind of troubling me. I'm desperately looking for a solution, I've thought about having them repaired locally but am afraid they will use the wrong thread, leather, and so on. I'm thinking about repairing the buckle attachment myself at home with a heavy duty sewing machine but can't seem to find a good reproduction leather tab anywhere. I could drill out the rivet which is rusty anyway, and sew on a new tab. Would this be possible, and if so, does anyone know an address? Thanks! USMC_COLLECTOR Posted December 14, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 14, 2021 I have a whole spare top... I unfortunately had the same thing happen to me. The top part is unissued, doesn't match my boot. PM if interested.
ken88 Posted December 16, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted December 16, 2021 Thanks for your reply! I'm glad to say the problem's gone. I found a pair of cut off buckle attachments shortly after my first post, and handed them to a shoe maker. He did an excellent job repairing them. You'd never tell they were repaired.
