Copran Posted February 6, 2009 Share #153 Posted February 6, 2009 Owen, I think your jacket was made from the pants material. Indeed using the Size 7 pants is enough to make a quite big shirt, the only esthetic inconvenient that you can have 1 piece back (needed 2 parts to make the back). Almost French Algeria Airborne Windproof jackets were made in this way

kammo-man Posted February 6, 2009 Share #155 Posted February 6, 2009 Cop This came from the same Airborne collection that the 47-56 WW2 -black -tiger -Lizard sets came from . apparently the guy got 1 of everything made in camouflage that took his fancy . I will post his lizard set in the tiger pages . o

kammo-man Posted February 7, 2009 Share #158 Posted February 7, 2009 AG They are comming over next week JA We are still trying to get to the bottom of where this jacket came from . It is only a small part of a massive In-country camouflage grouping . My source is holding his cards very tightly to his chest . I do know I missed his Issue Viet windproof SETs !!!! Now that got me become quiet for a couple of days . I will see the guy at the next SOS in a couple of weeks , so who knows owen

kammo-man Posted February 11, 2009 Share #163 Posted February 11, 2009 I had two other pairs also . The first US cut Windproof and the other is the classic British original 1942 pattern . Back in the day I took a quick shot of each item in my collection as a bit of fun , not realising it would one day become a Massive Military information collectors dream muther load . Alex Alex, nice pic, one of the medic worn TTA 47/53 or 47/52 french lizzard cmos while the other worn PINK uniform. Here my latest purchase, almost giant size Windproof pink 2nd pattern jacket. Shirt almost fits US large-long. The shirt was made in Airborne cut (with 2 large chest pockets with hidden buttons). 2 lower pockets were added, they are from Jungle like LLDB pink uniform. Size is A-7 and made in 64. Now I have to lookk after a matching pants

Broadsword Posted September 28, 2009 Share #171 Posted September 28, 2009 Was reading and found this pic of a French Paratrooper carrying a wounded Viet. Dien-Bien-Phu 1954. Greetings, What an amazing amount of great info and pics. I assume that the stippled, tiny ink spashes were unique to the Vietnam versions of the original British windproof pattern? I have never seen these pattern details on original British windpoofs? Also, any info on the airborne cut jackets that had the vertical pocket zippers under the flapped chest pockets. Were these 'standard issue' or possibly a custom detail? Any known dates when the zip added versions appeared? Thanks for the help. kammo-man Posted September 30, 2009 Share #172 Posted September 30, 2009 BS The 1st Windproof pattern was a direct copy of the British pattern exactly . The 2nd print was a copy of copy . simple . Zips were custom and could appear in lots of different ways . so there is no hard fast rules in dating them . do you have a garment you want to show ?? owen

I have been reviewing many photos and admit I have never seen the splattered portions of the VN patterns on original British windproofs. It has been my understanding that the VN patterns were based upon the original Brit pattern that added unique touches (i.e. the stippled/splattered effect). Thanks again for the help.
