manayunkman Posted April 23, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2020 Not many folks here will know of John T. He was a high end collector of all types of militaria and had a police car collection. I was set up at the Carlisle Antique show one year next to Mr Leonard, a local auctioneer who i overheard talking about John. He said something to the effect that John came to him several times with unbelievable collections but he had a strange feeling about him and wouldnt take them. I knew John for 40 years and he was a very mysterious gentleman. I bought a collection from Frank Zlogar a WW2 vet. Frank had retired from being justice of the peace in Steelton PA where John was also from. Being a small town I asked Mr Zlogar if he knew Tonkovich and all he said was untouchable. John and I had many philosophical discussions over the years and I knew he had some things on his mind. Rest In Peace John My old friend. You came through for me when I really needed it.
