Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted April 21, 2020 Share #4 Posted April 21, 2020 Some foreign nation beret that looks like some kind of nylon material? Not VN era though. I cant see for certain but the stamp appears to be in Vietnamese, so if it is not VN war then it is probably fake rather than foreign.

If you make out what language that is, your eyes are a lot better than mine!
River Patrol Posted April 21, 2020 Share #6 Posted April 21, 2020 Agreed, it doesn't appear to be original......ripstop nylon-like material. The maker name "QUE-ANH" can be seen in ink, which is a typical Vietnamese beret maker from the period.

kammo-man Posted May 6, 2020 Share #19 Posted May 6, 2020 A beret has a specific half silk liner in black with a rough strengthening cotton shaping band that follows a very similar design.Once observed a correct one you will know It and not be fooled by a copy Owen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kammo-man Posted May 6, 2020 Share #20 Posted May 6, 2020 The fake berets that have flooded from Vietnam over the last 25 years all have the same drastic flaw. The little lace at the back On top is an original Indo China French period beret from US para cloth It follows the typical French style of the silk lace that hangs from a slot in the rear of the sweat band. It’s just a sit where the 2 seams meet logicaly at the rear The Vietnamese copied this in later produced Berets The copy’s put 2 metal grommets with the lace This is a no no in real items. Not the fakes has the metal but real dosnt A typical faker move to make something better looking than the original was.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

MattS Posted May 6, 2020 Share #22 Posted May 6, 2020 Looks like Army aircrew wings on that one beret, that along with the patch means he was probably Air Cav. Very cool!
