Raft Equipment Pack/bag?

Recommended Posts

Digging through duffel bags of gear during this stay at home junk and found this bag. Unfortunately someone used a black marker and marked out the identifying information on the side panel. I tried several photo filters to try and read the information, but nothing worked. Can anyone identify what exactly I have here? The equipment that came with this lot was from the early 50's to early 80's, with most of it Vietnam period.

Thanks,

Bob

Google PK-2 Pararaft. Its a US Navy one-man raft kit, 1950's-1960's.

Awesome. Found a picture of the full kit. I looked for half hour this morning and found nothing. Thanks a bunch. :)

Maybe a little late, but here is a picture of a label.

Dang it! that better have been a Navy one and not the Army version you posted above! Navy PK-2 ones are way more common to find than the Survival Kit, Over Water marked. I think the Army one is more of a OD green than the Navy sage.

Where it says raft, that number comes back as a FSN for Navy "PK-2 Overwater Kit" so Id guess it is in fact the Navy variant.

Anybody know of a way to remove black marker but leave the original printing?

Sharpie's have an alcohol based ink. I have had reasonable luck using alcohol to remove "permanent" marker ink. Start small, alcohol on a rag, and see if you have any success. I have put the area with the marker on it in a container of alcohol for a day or two.

Mohawk,

Were you asking about the one Papas posted or the one I posted the label of?

The one you posted of the label! Teasing me with the Overwater/Composite OV-1 kit!
