Ok guys, I just don’t know what to make of it, I got this along with a grouping, my thoughts is it’s real and has been field modified, the group it came with had ties to French resistance behind the scenes stuff, sheath is pretty neat, the blade has definitely been modified for a more stiletto point. Thoughts

A Camillus handle should have two cross pins in the pommel. Also I was only aware of Imperial using the plastic spacers in the handle. Although there are many variations in M3s most had 8 grooves in the handle. The guard stamp also looks a little off. And most, but not all M3s had an ordnance stamp on them.

As for the modified looking blade, Ive seen others that people ground down to more of a stiletto point. I actually have a blade marked Camillus M3 with a more aggressive modified grind job than this one.

The guard is from the reproduction Camillus M3. The lettering is upside down from the printing on the original. The lettering for Camillus is larger than on the originals, and there won't be periods on the US on the original.

Fritz- I'm in total agreement with everyone else. The knife a blade & guard from a Camillus 1990s repro. The leather handle is replaced by what looks like an M4 6 groove, "V" cut bayonet handle(note the square notches cut in the spacer). The blade shape was ground to a more lethal looking shape. The scabbard is shop made, and I really like the design. What you have is a nice functional M3, just not original. SKIP
