Nuts44 Posted April 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 12, 2020 Has anyone noticed that since the Covid scare that eBay seems to be letting the sale of Purple Hearts and other items go through to completion? I'm sure it's due to them working from home. So if you have some you want to sell or buy, belly up folks!
olivedrab1970 Posted April 12, 2020 Share #2 Posted April 12, 2020 I was just noticing that as well, I thought that maybe I had missed something? There is one Silver Star that does not look to be authentic, very shiny! Robin-

Worldwar_Collector Posted April 12, 2020 Share #4 Posted April 12, 2020 I had a Purple Heart up that got taken down. But then I changed the name and it was fine!

Reforger Posted April 12, 2020 Share #6 Posted April 12, 2020 The Purple Hearts I‘ve seen are overpriced in my opinion. An unnamed Purple Heart can be found cheaper elsewhere. They aren‘t rare. But they are rare on eBay and that has to be the reason they always sell for so much.
MMcollector Posted April 13, 2020 Share #7 Posted April 13, 2020 Even though sales are completing, eBay will still give a warning/policy violation weeks after the sale is done, medal shipped/received, feedback left. Then boom... policy violation. 3 times in 3 month equals locked account.

Isn't this bidding higher than you'd expect for a WW II Army Europe KIA PH? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Purple-Heart-Medal-WWII-Named-in-Case/153893795657?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908131621%26meid%3De6541e8c07e84ccfaa822975543e5c79%26pid%3D100678%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Des%26sd%3D124150538093%26itm%3D153893795657%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100678.m3607&_trkparms=pageci%3A83ae1adb-7da6-11ea-8ffe-74dbd1806cf5%7Cparentrq%3A7470a4bd1710aa13eab6a49dffebc35e%7Ciid%3A1

I sold a sten gun magazine spring and they hit me 2 months later! Robin-
RDUNE Posted April 13, 2020 Share #11 Posted April 13, 2020 I just watched this one end at $150 with 30+ bids... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Military-Medal-Purple-Heart-Never-Issued-/264691673604?nma=true&si=PxjrUOzpF6fmjzydv%252FmVv%252FQ4LIo%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 I had my account suspended for 30 days about a year ago for listing a Purple Heart. Still tempting to list a couple and see if I can get 2 or three times retail like some of these are going for Edit: Immediately after posting this I got a notification from Ebay with a purchase recommendation... Nuts44 Posted April 13, 2020 Author Share #12 Posted April 13, 2020 Agreed that the bidding is insane on them. Getting locked down? That's why it's a good idea to have several accounts!

On the 12th of April, a bad fake was sold by macs_military_antiques for $350. There was a privately engraved WIA one that sold for $465 on the 10th of April. The seller claimed it was to a KIA Marine. It was not. It was a beautifully engraved WIA one...not worth anything near $465. I have screenshots of all these auctions that I'll post when I have the bandwidth to do so, just so we have them for the record... I plan on offering my book on eBay shortly...maybe they'll buy it and educate themselves on what's rare, not rare, and not what they want to believe it is... aerialbridge Posted April 13, 2020 Share #14 Posted April 13, 2020 Thanks, Dave. Your book will certainly be a public service and educating the unwary is part of it. .
