marshallsarsenal Posted April 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 12, 2020 Hello All, I recently obtained 4 WWII grenades and containers. I am somewhat familiar with the WWII MK 2 grenades and I have done quite a bit of additional research and reading on previous posts here and elsewhere to make sure I have the genuine items, so I hope I can clarify/confirm what I have and their market value. I believe I have them in the correct containers for their production age. Any help or insights is greatly appreciated. All 4 Grenades. All have correct spoons and solid bottoms. They all seem to be the same height and same diameter at the base. 3 of the 4 have fiber washers. All fuses have the striker spring. More pictures available. Listed in Order of my picture. Grenade 1: Early Yellow (MZ00A1) Fuse?? I thought it was a M200A1 fuse. It has a solid bottom with flatter shoulders. No body markings. Grenade 4: M10A2 Fuse, No yellow Band and looks to be "Over Painted". Has more rounded shoulders. Body has an 'I' and 'AI' cast. Grenade 3: M10A2 Fuse, Yellow Band, Painted OD Fuse and Spoon. Has rounded shoulders as is smooth and more glossy OD. Body has 'AF' and an 'I' in cast.
marshallsarsenal Posted April 12, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted April 12, 2020 Grenade 3 Continued: Grenade 2: M6A4C Fuse with little tab by spoon. Squared shoulders. Some cast id but hard to Identify. Here are the 4 Tubes: Tube order is not the same as Grenade order. 2 are M41, 2 are M41A1 (1 with the TNT). I know the white lettering on one is not WWII era. Thanks for any and all assistance. I really appreciate it. Marshall
ccyooper Posted April 12, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 12, 2020 I think the fuze on your yellow grenade was originally on a smoke grenade as you can see by the bend near the top. I believe some were used on Mk II but I would think that they would be remarked or would be on a green grenade, iMHo. Do they all have solid bottoms? Nice collection, thank you for sharing. ccyooper Posted April 12, 2020 Share #5 Posted April 12, 2020 Thank you. The M6a4c were detonators used with the TNT filled grenade and are somewhat hard to find. The little half pin on the fuze to contain the fuze is a match for the spoon as it was used later in the war.
