Lightech Posted April 11, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 11, 2020 Here is my concept for a family shadowbox. Is there anything wrong/inaccurate, or any pins/decorations I could add? Is the following the right way to print their information on a plaque: WWI - Pvt Benjamin Arthur O’Barr USA Battery E 25th Artillery CAC Fort Rosecrans, CA Pvt Herbert Hadley USMC Naval Prison Detachment co D Mare Island, CA Pvt Roy Verlin Plemmons USA Camp Detachment, Co G Camp Bowie, TX WWII - 2nd Lt Stuart Brown Quist USA 1318th Service Command Unit Co A, 5th Bn, Conv Hosp Camp Pickett, VA 1st Lt Erva Irene Watson USA 208th Hospital Ship Comp USAHS Chateau Thierry Ralph Herbert Hadley USN Coxswain SV6 (PO2) USS Petrof Bay Cold War - S/Sgt Lloyd Reed Ellsworth USAAF 5th Bombardment Squadron Mountain Home Air Force Base, ID
Jim MacDonald Posted April 11, 2020 Share #2 Posted April 11, 2020 If SSgt Ellsworth was in after Sep 47 it should read USAF and not USAAF. Also, the current AF abbreviation is SSgt, I'm not sure when it changed from S/Sgt. Not sure if that occurred when it separated from the Army in '47 or at a later date. Maybe somebody else can chip in with that info. The concept looks good. Mac
29navy Posted April 11, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 11, 2020 Very nice. Suggestion - put a label above each of the medals as to what they are.
Brian Keith Posted April 11, 2020 Share #4 Posted April 11, 2020 Wow! Very nice tribute, you have a lot of military history in your family. It might just be my computer, but the cap badges of the two WW II officers look slightly silver. They should be gold for Army officers. Excellent Job! Very pleasing to the eye. Kadet Posted April 11, 2020 Share #5 Posted April 11, 2020 One small point...the piece of insignia you have above the Sailor is only worn by officers.
cavcon Posted April 12, 2020 Share #6 Posted April 12, 2020 Great display and idea! Only thing that jumped out at me was the 2nd and 3rd photos (from left), they look like USAF officer hat badges but the pics are of Army medical corps which would make them gold. Otherwise you did a great job and nice tribute to your family
bertmedals Posted April 12, 2020 Share #7 Posted April 12, 2020 I think it looks great -- excellent idea and professional. On question though, were the name/organization plaques below the named commercially made or did you make them yourself? Dennis
