Hes wearing the lined skull cap often seen worn by Tank crews. may have a jeep cap or wool stocking hat over that also

Five Points Belgium; US Personnel advance into Baugnez and discovered the first remains of the Malmedy Massacre Victims - January 14, 1945 - 77 years ago today

“Five Points” was the US Army nickname for the crossroads at Baugnez Belgium, it was the site of the Malmedy Massacre on December 17, 1944 when captured U.S. Personnel were executed there by members of Kampfgruppe Peiper
