doyler Posted July 20, 2022 Share #379 Posted July 20, 2022 The GI's "steel pot" had many uses, apart from protecting his head! Here, a GI of the 8th "Golden Arrow" Infantry Division is using his M1's shell to bathe his foot....good foot-care was a must for all infantrymen. Photographed during the US Army's advance towards Avranches, Normandy - July 1944. patches Posted July 31, 2022 Share #390 Posted July 31, 2022 A Ordnance Corps Branch marked steel helmet on I guess an officer, Alsace late Fall of 1944, as he's talking to Maj Gen Roderick R. Allen commander of the 12th Armored Division, then perhaps he is in the 134th Armored Ordnance Maintenance Battalion of this division, maybe even it's commander whoever he was then.
