The following picture would definitely make you scratch your head without any additional information.

Turns out the US-British cooperation in North Africa landed M-1 helmets in the British army, but probably only for a very brief period. Still an amazing fact you'd never believe without seeing for yourself. But there you go...  British soldiers wearing M-1 helmets!

A real interesting one, Camo helmets with Nets being worn by some unit under U.S. Army Service Forces in England in 1943, Camo maybe Vesicant right, and the unit, they look every inch the combat unit, not one typically found under this support organization, so perhaps this unit, despite being assigned to U.S. Army Service Forces is lets say a Combat Engineer Battalion, and will in due course be assigned to either 1st Army, 3rd Army or one of the Field Corps in England.

Do you think the guy with the Thompson was carrying boxes of 45 in his bandolier?  It seems like a good way to carry extra ammo as .45 ammo didn’t come in bandoliers.

I think he was in act armed with an M1, see it slung on his back, and that the Tommy Gun is a pick up from either a dead or wounded platoon mate.

Roger that. I didn’t notice the rifle on his back. The odd thing is that it appears to be a Kerr sling attached to whatever weapon that is. Might not be but it appears to have that shape and ridges.  Maybe it just looks that way to me on my phone.

Two US Army Harley-Davidson WLA Motorcycles near Lanuvio Italy - 1944

The Harley-Davidson WLA was produced to US Army specifications during WW2. The WLA was based on an existing civilian model, the WL and had a 45-cubic-inch engine.
The WLA was also known as the "Liberator", over 90,000 would be produced.

Wonder what he has slung on his back? See the lower stock and sling…

The square in the bandoleer looks smaller than a box of 45 ACP ammo.
