Bob Hudson Posted April 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2020 The Marine's whose uniforms sport those impressive medals and ribbon racks spent over 30 years active duty. He was at Okinawa, Inchon (WIA), Central Vietnam (where he was decorated with the Navy Achievement Medal with "V" for combat valor). He also served as a DI, Recruiter, MP, Embassy Guard Duty in Latin America and lots of time at ranges. When I started sorting through the documents I found this first one that must have given his mother chills when it arrived.

Bob Hudson Posted April 6, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted April 6, 2020 That knife is a KA-BAR , but not what you think: it's his old Official Boy Scout knife made by UNION CUT CO. of OLEAN. It has a steel - not aluminum - pommel which I understand was done circa 1941-43. The blade is 3 1/2 inches and has a lot of scratches on it, but the edge is even and very sharp. Bob Hudson Posted April 6, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted April 6, 2020 The uniforms include 3 sets of utilities including the Vietnam era ERDL's, VN era green tropical combat uniform, and an vintage HBT shirt, which I assume dates back to his Korea service. There are also three utility covers, plus frames and covers for the Alpha and Dress Blues uniforms.

Bob Hudson Posted April 12, 2020 Author Share #20 Posted April 12, 2020 MEDALS CERTIFICATES - note that his Purple Heart certificate has him being wounded on August 27, 1950 but I believe it should be Sept 27, since he was wounded at during the Inchon Soul campaign which began in September. There is a document from a Navy Hospital and the date error on that became a fixed part of his records. Also, his PH certificate was not issued until 1965.
