Never knew that book existed.

So he jumped with the 187th?

According to the bio he must have done his combat with the 187th.

What kind of wing did they use?

The 188th was glider trained in the beginning of the war as was the 187th. Towards the end the made both glider regt duel trained, glider and para. My dad told me they wanted to know if he would stay in and get jump qualified. He said no way. Bad enough he was forced into glider training. Not all glidermen were volunteer's. The 11th abn never made a combat glider drop, maybe for medical they did. But not full scale landing like the 101st and 82nd

In WW2 the 187th regiment was constituted on March 12, 1942 at Camp Mackall, NC. In February 1943 the 187th was activated and designated a glider regiment and assigned to the 11th Airborne Division..

In May 1944 the regiment along with the rest of the 11th AB Division arrived in the Southwest Pacific.

It wasn't until May 1945 that the 3rd Battalion of the 187th was formed and the unit was redesignated a Para-glider regiment...

If he initially qualified in gliders he would have been awarded the glider badge and as it states in his write up he also qualified as a paratrooper and he should have been eligible to wear jump wings as well.. The photo of him in the 11th Airborne book is small but it appears he is wearing paratrooper wings..

I overlooked this book in my 187th/11th Airborne reference books (Good pick up SGT DORANGO) I forgot all about this book on my bookshelf..
