"D-DAY US MEDIC'S VEST"?

Recommended Posts

Seller claims original US, but I at least have never seen one of these anywhere in any WWII photos (or even carefully researched films -- SPR, BoB, etc).

I have seen these on WWII German medics, but this one has a US stamp on inside: "PHILADELPHIA QM DEPOT 1944"

Color seems off; not white.

Comments?

I collect Airborne, D-Day and USMC but also anything that is unusual....

The article here mentions the Medics tabards or aprons but not a lot of detail other than the introduction date of February 1945

The 94th Infantry Division wore them. Go to this thread for a couple of photos. The guy wearing one next to the weapons carrier is my dad.

It looks good, but I'm no expert. It would be an odd item to fake/reproduce, but I guess you never know nowadays.

Hmmm. Have not previously seen either in other than the regular white.

the tabard (thanks for the nomenclature) is unusual enough to be an interesting bit for my collection, but

I'm still dubious about orginality.

The circular red crosses look more European than U.S. Similar to what they use on their ambulances.
