blackhawkdown Posted March 24, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2020 Can anyone help me identify the plane in this photo? It is a postcard it was in my grandfathers estate. It looks similar to the Wright brothers early plains but if you look at the wings carefully it seems different. Can anyone identify it?
TBMflyer Posted March 24, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2020 Looks like an early Glenn Curtiss aircraft, maybe a Hudson Flyer. Nice image, Mark
Jarhead8007 Posted March 24, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 24, 2020 It looks like a Curtiss Model D biplane, circa 1910-11. Similar picture is in the Wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss_Model_D

Doctorofwar Posted March 25, 2020 Share #6 Posted March 25, 2020 Great little Museum dedicated to Glenn Curtiss- well worth the visit if you ever happen through Hammondsport NY. Not only a lot of aircraft, but motorcycles, cars and a WW1 machine gun collection when I was there a couple years ago. In fact there is a lot of historic aviation attractions in that part of NYS, one could easily make a vacation out of it.
