First to Fall at Omaha Beach

Recommended Posts

We finally made it to Omaha Beach. We'll be hitting different parts of Omaha Beach over the next few episodes, but I think that this one explores a corner that is often overlooked. Enjoy!

Another great video. Like being there - again. The present serenity of Omaha Beach today compared to D-day is almost surreal. Thanks. Keep up the good work. Bobgee

"I have only two men out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." Thanks! Appreciate that. Ever since I've left, I just want to go back.

Right..?? The area has that effect on you. ;)

Our first stop once in Sector Omaha was WN 60. It was a nice day and you could see the whole length of the beach. Quite a vista.

I think that WN60 gets easily overlooked, which is one reason why I wanted to feature it. Even on YouTube, you don't see much about it. I think that most hit the bunkers of WN 62 instead (which is in the next video that comes out on Thursday). But you're right. WN60 does offer quite the view of the beach.

Camera perspective and conversational style makes me feel like I'm walking the beach with you.

Looking forward to more from Omaha Beach.

I'll be going to that exact spot in the video that I'm posting tomorrow. My intention was to visit his grave as well but there had been a TON of rain there in the days before and most of the cemetery was roped off.
