Santa Clara City, CA Veterans Memorial in Central Park

Wandering around Central Park in the City of Santa Clara, I found this small memorial to our veterans. Thought I'd share.

Here is the memorial itself. Each branch of service in the circle has it's own stone with a poetic inscription and flag.

Of all the poems for each service, I found this one for the Merchant Marines the most moving. The words equally well apply to all those lost at sea.

Last but not least was this memorial to an individual soldier killed in action in Iraq.

 

I was quite touched to see that someone, family or friend left a 49ers hat on top of the stone.

Ive been down to Santa Clara to visit my family multiple times and always pass by. Never took a second to look around. Thank you for sharing sir. Thank you to all our veterans
