NateBud21 Posted March 16, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 16, 2020 I posted the first telegraphs earlier, and went back to the shop where I had found them and was able to find more things related to this soldier. Includes news clippings, telegrams, his photo, a letter explaining his injury and his discharge documents. I looked more in to the man himself, and found out that he never married or had children, so I will try to keep his honor going.

manayunkman Posted March 16, 2020 Share #6 Posted March 16, 2020 I wonder if his first wound was at St. Lo? Interesting that the telegram says severely wounded but he was back on duty the following month.
24th_infantry Posted March 16, 2020 Share #7 Posted March 16, 2020 That's an amazing grouping you were able to save! Glad to see you were able to keep everything together and that you are the new caretaker of his items! Keep his memory alive so others may see his sacrifices and give him the honor he deserves! Thanks for sharing!
NateBud21 Posted March 16, 2020 Author Share #8 Posted March 16, 2020 I read his medical paper on Ancestry... he was shot in the arm in his first injury, then for the second he got shrapnel from an artillery shell in his foot and arm. I found this news clipping too.
