NateBud21 Posted March 15, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 15, 2020 Looking for some help here. Long story short, I've received all of my tools once he passed away, including a bag of his bricklaying tools. I noticed that the bag is a 1945 Cargo Field Pack, and am curious if anyone out there feels like this might be something that was issued to him. I do have his other military items, so if this is likely part of it I would like to clean it up and add it to the collection (I'll attach them too in case that helps). Thanks! He was a coxswain on LST 742 in the Pacific Theater and drove the LCVP.

Fixbayonets! Posted March 15, 2020 Share #5 Posted March 15, 2020 Did he also serve after WWII? The pack dates post war so if he only served during WWII he must have picked it up after the fact. Rob
NateBud21 Posted March 15, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted March 15, 2020 Thanks...He served Oct 1943- Feb 1946.
dustin Posted March 15, 2020 Share #7 Posted March 15, 2020 The knapsack is dated 1951 or 1952, hard to read.
NateBud21 Posted March 15, 2020 Author Share #8 Posted March 15, 2020 Oh, I see it now.. I was looking at the date on the tag, thank you!
Fixbayonets! Posted March 15, 2020 Share #9 Posted March 15, 2020 I could not make out the date but whenever you see 5 or 6 lines of nomenclature on these packs they date post war. M1945 packs dating to WWII are usually just marked with the manufacturer name & date. Rob
