WWII CAMPAIGN STREAMERS: SILK OR...?

I have a number of these -- seller noted WWII thru '80's and acquiring more as they come available.

 

Does anyone know what material they are made of, or how I can figure that out?

 

The other question is that I have two "Guadalcanal 1942-1943" streamers -- among others -- one with black lettering and the other with blue lettering. Note this one has "tails" coming off points at bottom of streamer; and another I have does not.

Any idea on difference?
