Vietnam VMO Aerial Observer patch group

I picked this group up about 4 years ago but have never gotten around to posting it. It is probably my favorite Vietnam era Marine patch group. Kept hoping a few more pieces might materialize, but since late 2015 nothing else has. Cowpoke was the call sign used by Aerial Observers (AO) of Marine Observation Squadron 2 (VMO-2) assigned to the 1st Marine Division. I have looked online over the years but never was able to put a name with Cowpoke 12. Found mentions of several other Cowpoke call signs though. The 1st and 5th MARDIV patches look Japanese made, the Bronco and Squadron 11 patches are Thai made and I think the Cowpoke 12 might be Vietnamese made.

Pretty much identical for sure. I have another of this same patch (not from this group) and it too is identical.

Mine also came with a Bronco group which included this one from VMO-1 and a VMFA-115 sticker.

Really nice set of patches you've got there, hope you find more info on 'Cowpoke' and the connection to the other patches.

Can you read the number on the fuselage on that patch?

I am really not sure what the little black marks are. They are not numbers per se. Maybe they were meant to represent numbers. I don't know.

Thank you River Patrol, it is a really pretty patch. Someone new what what they were doing when they made it. Just my 2 cents though :)
