kwc271 Posted March 7, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 7, 2020 I just bought a USMC white dress hat. It has a cotton white cover, brass ega with latitude and longitude lines, black brim with a pebble type finish on top and a green on bottom. Leather hatband but very dry. It does have a wicker frame. Would this be WWII ? I would post pic but I can’t resize from my IPad. thanks for any help, Kevin
Wake1941 Posted March 7, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 7, 2020 Likely ww2 but without pics its hard to tell. A member here made a resizing link have you tried that ?
kwc271 Posted March 7, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted March 7, 2020 Which link is that?
themick Posted March 7, 2020 Share #4 Posted March 7, 2020 I too would like the link to the resizing post. Wake1941 is right about a picture being needed. Without a picture, I'd ask one thing: Is the stiffener in the hat cover thin wire, or a wider metal band of around a quarter of an inch. If the latter, the hat is post WWII. If the former, 1920s-1940s. Would also like to see a picture of the chin strap. Pre-1937 ones measured 1/2 inch wide, and those after measured 3/4 inch wide. kwc271 Posted March 8, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted March 8, 2020 The hat had a thin wire stiffener, wicker frame, 3/4” chinstrap, semi- pebbles visor with green underside. Here are some pics.....

themick Posted March 8, 2020 Share #12 Posted March 8, 2020 A very nice Late '30s through WWII hat with a nice WWI emblem on it. Yes, you did quite well for $20. Steve
