dustin Posted March 1, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2020 Now this is an interesting cut down bayonet, any ideas? Deck crew aboard a carrier, WWII.

robinb Posted March 1, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 1, 2020 I like it. Here's one that I have that's similar. Cut down M1917 scabbard in a cut down M1910 cover, with a cut down SA 1915 M1905 bayonet. It also features a sailors knot around the throat. l
SKIPH Posted March 1, 2020 Share #4 Posted March 1, 2020 I thinl the bayonet in the top 2 pics is an M1, and the scabbard is cut down. Hard to tell, but I used the soldier's hand, for comparison of size. Just a guess! SKIP
tthen Posted March 3, 2020 Share #5 Posted March 3, 2020 Cool picture Dustin, I agree with Skip about it being an M1 bayonet, not sure if it's cut down but the scabbard has definatley been modified. Another interesting side note are the shoes or boots the sailor on the right with the hose is wearing. They almost look like some kind of loafer while the sailor with the bayonet is wearing some sort of high top boot. Got to love what sailors put on their feet during that time period.
