patches Posted March 1, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2020 Yes I know it's from MASH But I've been seeing this and noticing it every time I watch this particular episode, Cut Down Pfc Stripes (The one where that GI with the big nose keeps deserting cause other men in the unit keep making fun of him, and the Docs arrange to get him a nose job ) Anyhoo, this is a good reference to really see the configuration of a stripe when its done, in this case the stripe looks like a White/Silver on Black Twill, he also wears cut downs of the same type White/Silver on Black Twill on his dress uniform, the of course inaccurate M26 Coat rather then the accurate IKE Jacket that's all ways used in MASH when dress is worn. patches Posted March 1, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted March 1, 2020 Looks like the bottom stripes of a Sergeants stripes was used right.
patches Posted November 7, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted November 7, 2020 One more example, this from a movie this time, Andrew Prine in The Devil's Brigade, Prine's character (Pfc Theodore Ransom) we see is wearing a cut down Pf of the Silver White variety too, in this case it looks like the bottom stripes again, with the stripe really spread wide when it was sewn on.
