ken Posted February 19, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2020 Jim Moran's book shows several of these covers as issued by the Raiders in WW2. Is this still discredited and still regarded as post -WW2?
olivedrab1970 Posted February 19, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2020 This is a Very volatile subject! I had a grouping of a U.S. Marine from the 9th Defense forces with an early Mccord pot and paper Hawley liner and a first pattern helmet cover with stenciled EGA. He had served in the Gilbert islands for 2 years, I received his personnel file and he was discharged in late 1945. The helmet cover matched to the helmet with stenciled EGA??? I believe (speculation) EGA's where being implemented late war on USMC head gear and carried over to the helmet covers as well in this time period. I know I probably just opened a barrel of monkeys with this idea! Robin-
