Boy did he see his share and then some. Died to early.

Totally agree with that. He was one busy soldier for sure. I think that would be a great helmet to have and I don't know that much about helmets. Just because it belonged to that soldier.

Pretty impressive career, although he must not have seen any combat in VN for he’s not on the three-time CIB recipient list....thought for sure he’d have been there.

Great helmet!! Nice research Matt !

That guy went through a lot. Its a shame he didnt get to retire.

Awesome helmet. He may not have a CIB for Vietnam but I bet he drove truckloads of ammo to the artlliery units. WW2 Korea Vietnam ! My First Sergeant in my old Guard unit was a Vet of WW2 Korea Vietnam.

Those guys were tough and wise.

Awesome Helmet. A memorial to the Man.

I had to buy this liner, it's another star painted helmet/liner. Thought I would renew the post.  Would be nice to know the meaning of it.  Does anyone else have any they can post here.

I doubt the painted star was used for aerial recognition.

The blue paint blends in to well and from a short distance would disappear, never mind seeing it from an airplane.

It has a 1960s look to me.

Whether it was done by him or one of his kids will be hard to figure out.

Thanks to AzN. you have a list of next of kin and perhaps you can track one down and get some enlightenment.

Seems like a lot of work but it could prove fruitful.
