Not sure what to say about it. 1st) It looks like a lid was never worn on it as the paint shows no indication of rubs or scrapes. 2nd) the National colors are of the post war type. Beyond that...I can't wait to read what others say.

Id strip it and repaint. Testors olive drab spray paint is a great match. You will likely need 2 cans as it comes in 3 ounce cans.

Chances are they might have used a acrylic or weaker hobby paint and hopefully it will come off easier??....mike
