I have not seen any of these. Has anyone seen an Air Medal to a Cavalry Officer before? This was was before the 1st Air Cavalry came into play. The document for the Medal was issued in 1948, but indicates for actions in December or 1944.

Thanks for all the information BEAST. I am hoping to find out how he earned the medal. This all came out of a coin shop dealer that I discovered. I mentioned him in one of my last posts regarding an Army Occupation of Cuba medal that I bought from him

He was from NY. The dealer had his award document for the NY conspicuous Service Cross, but could not find the medal. I’m hoping it turns up!

It looks like the Chanor Base Section was part of the Advanced Sector Areas. I didnt know that and just discovered it while researching. These patches where also in the suitcase which had all these items. He said he bought them about 30 years ago as a group. Im thinking he was also part of a Tank Destroyer unit based on the patches found in the case. There were some other items that were in there that I think I need to look at.

AZNarion and Weaver45, Thanks for the information. That is definitely the same guy. All the info matches with the patches and collar brass that I found with medal. When I go back i'll dig out more stuff out of the suitcase he had everything in. I did find an old passport application and a family tree on Ancestry. I'll post a little lapel badge that I also found that was interesting
