Silver E-tool?

Any ideas on how to restore the dignity of this WWII E-tool? It is in great shape except for the shiny paint.

Should I simply repaint it or attempt to strip the offending color before repaining? Do I treat the wood differently for the metal?

I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

I would say it was a gag award or military award of some kind, appears there was a plaque or something glued onto it. Going to be tough to clean up and not really worth the time in my opinion but you could strip it all off if you really wanted!

Use a gel-based stripper thats safe for wood (home depot) if you are inclined to do so. will cost more money than its worth- but if its a project you are after rather than an investment- will be simple to do

I agree. It was part of a presentation at one point. The glue residue probably held an inscription. It is not about the investment though, it is about History. Your advice is greatly appreciated.
