Who can help me please finding this soldier's unit?

Willard C. Unkenholz, ASN 32800798.

They were dug up in the Ardennes or Hurtgen Forest area many years ago. The guy who found them does not remember exactly where.

WILLARD C. UNKENHOLZ

National Security Advisor

Willard C. Unkenholz, 69, a retired senior information security advisor with the National Security Agency, died of a heart ailment Oct. 16 at Holy Cross Hospital. He lived in Silver Spring.

He moved to the Washington area in 1948 to work for a predecessor agency of the NSA. He headed technical, policy and international relations and applications offices in the NSA's information security organization and retired in 1987 as a member of the senior cryptologic executive service. Until this year, he was a consultant to the center for security evaluation at the Central Intelligence Agency.

Mr. Unkenholz was a native of Yonkers, N.Y., and a graduate of City College of New York. He received a master's degree in management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a law degree from George Washington University. He had worked part time as a lawyer and did pro bono appeals work for veterans.

He served in the Army in Europe during World War II and received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He remained in the Army Reserve until 1955.

His other honors included the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, a presidential meritorious service award and the National Security Agency's Exceptional and Meritorious Civilian Service awards.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marlys L. Unkenholz of Silver Spring; four children, Willard L., of Laurel, Mark R., of Eldersburg, Md., John T., of Columbia, and Sondra K. Unkenholz of Silver Spring; two brothers, Robert A., of Thompson Station, Tenn., and Thomas J., of West Islip, N.Y.; and three grandsons.
