doughboy Posted February 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2020 Hi, I have some doubts on these three beret flashes.Although they measure the exact size listed by Hudspeath book I'm not sure if they are good. What is your opinion ? Good or Bad ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
hardstripe Posted February 9, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 9, 2020 They look like the ones made in Alaska for the 172nd Infantry Bde during the late 70s.
patches Posted February 13, 2020 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2020 They look like the ones made in Alaska for the 172nd Infantry Bde during the late 70s. Never seen these types worn in the old 172nd Inf Bde. Here's a selection of the various flashes worn in those days, the ones on the OD Berets by member cavcon, there will be more than what seen, but not these red/white ones,
patches Posted February 13, 2020 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2020 Not even the brigade's Cav unit wore these, here they wore a solid Yellow flash. E Troop 1st Cavalry (Air).

468abnarm Posted February 16, 2020 Share #6 Posted February 16, 2020 Here are some identifications per Bill Hudspeath's book I would have some reservations about the two outer ones as they share a common backing material which always seems to me to be suspect. doughboy Posted February 16, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted February 16, 2020 Thanks to all of you for your help.468abnarm, you say what I thought but I wanted to hear it from one of you.The back of the outer flashes made me suspicious too.I always thought the backing should have a kind of mesh and sometimes you can see printed paper under it.
