mds308 Posted February 7, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2020 I'm guessing this was a GI bring back from Turkey. The pipe is beautifully carved in relief. I have seen numerous EGA pipes but never one with an eagle this large. The carver (Salim) signed his work. Superb detail.

mds308 Posted February 7, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted February 7, 2020 What is it made of? The pipe is made from Meerschaum. I believe Meerschaum is fossilized sea foam. Very prevalent in Turkey. Now that is pretty neat. What do you think this dates to? The pipe is probably less than 10 years old. I did find Salim pipes available on line. Affordable but not cheap. mds308 Posted February 7, 2020 Author Share #10 Posted February 7, 2020 I saw this one earlier today. Since these are handmade, usually, no two are identical. Close. My eagle is bigger and I think my bowl may be bigger than the one in your image. Thank you.
