50 Mission Crusher Story

This is sort of a funny story that happened a long time ago.

In 1987 I was young and energetic and was really starting to concentrate on my collection of WWII AAF memorabilia. Back then we had Shotgun News that had a category in the back with lots of Militaria for sale. There was an ad for a fellow that sold aviation collectibles and Surplus that caught my eye and I wanted a 50 Mission Crusher so I called the guy. I asked him if he had any crushers and he said of course. There was just one stipulation on my part. I wanted one that would fit me. He asked what size and I replied 7 1/4. He said I have it....have lots of them. I sent him a note confirming our conversation and sent it with a money order. A week later I received this beautiful Crusher that would not fit in my new born sons noggin. I called the guy up and said this hat is a size 6 and he said.....so what. I reminded him of the size I wanted and he said. Look bub I dont have time to go back there and dig thru those hats looking for a particular size. I said why didnt you tell me that. He said do you want to send the hat back. I said no it is a nice hat and I will keep it. He said then what are you bitching about. I still have the cap and it is very nice but.....it still doesnt fit me. Just wanted to tell yall and show this old cap off.

Thanks.

Ronnie

Thanks Rick I appreciate that. Here is a picture of my son wearing this hat while sitting in the left seat of the late 909.
