rocky Posted January 31, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2020 HI, I have a vintage American Legion lapel pin and I was wondering what these are made of. I am thinking bronze but I am not sure. I would like to get some opinions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, rocky
jeffs1130 Posted January 31, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 31, 2020 It's not an "American Legion Pin" but a WWI US Service/Discharge Pin. They also came in silver if the soldier was wounded in combat. Hope that helps!
rocky Posted January 31, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted January 31, 2020 Thank you so much for the information. Then this is similar to the WW2 Ruptured Duck? This one is bronze? Thanks again, rocky
rocky Posted February 1, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted February 1, 2020 The reason why I thought it was American Legion is because I saw some on EBAY that looks just like it & that is what they were calling it. Thanks, Rocky
gomorgan Posted February 2, 2020 Share #5 Posted February 2, 2020 The American Legion was formed by WWI veterans and the American Legion emblem borrows heavily from this honorable discharge emblem issued to WWI veterans, and came in two medals bronze and silver if the veteran was wounded.
