OMGUS German Bullion Occupation Patch - Office of Military Government, United States

I posted this in another section of this forum, but am still looking for information on it. Does anyone know what years it was used, how long, and/or how many people would have worn this? Any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

OMGUS was in existence from Jan 1, 1946 - Dec 5, 1945, in 5 offices.

Doubt a ton of GIs wouldve worn this, they wouldve had to buy it from a German shop

Learned something new with this one, whether 5 GIs wore it or 1,000.

 

Interesting patch, previously unknown "unit" of the Army. Have only seen insignia for the OMG Hesse and Greater Hesse, both of which reported to OMGUS. OMGUS also had input into the ACCs. OMGUS lasted until 1949, am sure that was a typo.

This also came with an allied forces sports council badge which was only in existence from 1946 to 47 as well as some typical early occupation patches. Perhaps this patch also dates from that period
