ocsfollowme Posted January 29, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 29, 2020 A friend found these with a pilot with patches from the 523rd Tac FTR squadron, 50th FTR ETR Wing, 4456th CCTS, and 615th TAC FTR squadron. Does anyone know what either one is? Thanks in advance,

Wake1941 Posted January 29, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2020 2nd one looks foreign to me, likely European
aznation Posted January 29, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2020 Regarding the Select Crew, I found this in the Air Force Magazine.
firefighter Posted January 31, 2020 Share #5 Posted January 31, 2020 I always though SELECT CREW was a SAC/LeMay thing. The other one looks like a German Bevo type patch
flytiger Posted January 31, 2020 Share #6 Posted January 31, 2020 "Select Crew" was a Curt LeMay deal. One of his SAC innovations to inspire crews to train harder and score higher on their many and various skill inspections. SAC was a TOUGH life . Randy Posted February 1, 2020 Share #7 Posted February 1, 2020 Your select crew is specific to the 50th TFW at Hahn AB, Germany, in the early 60s. This program was used in USAFE and had nothing to do with the SAC one though it used similar elements. It is German made. Randy
firefighter Posted February 2, 2020 Share #8 Posted February 2, 2020 RANDY is correct. I never heard of a TFW select crew program before, learned something new. Here is your patch https://units.supersabresociety.com/emblems/50th-fbw-tfw/
Randy Posted February 2, 2020 Share #9 Posted February 2, 2020 That's actually my patch! I'm an SSS member, and put all those patches and history together for that site. I have about 90 more to load soon. Lots of neat stuff there if you're into USAF history and patches. Randy
Randy Posted February 2, 2020 Share #10 Posted February 2, 2020 Some other USAFE SC patches, from the 66 TRW in 1961 (RF-101), 81 TFW in 1966 (F-4C), and 48 TFW early 60s (F-100D). Randy
Proud Kraut Posted February 2, 2020 Share #11 Posted February 2, 2020 Seeing the 2nd patch my first thought was "Labor Service" since many of the LS patches were woven ones. Now that Randy has mentioned Hahn Air Base...
TMBN Posted February 4, 2020 Share #12 Posted February 4, 2020 2nd one is from the Royal Danish Air Force 727 Squadron early design.
