Peace Posted January 27, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2020 Hi all, while doing some research on US glider pilots in WW2 I was wondering which rank they held. Were glider pilots always officers, and if so, what rank did they hold? Same question goes if they are not required to be officers. Thanks in advance for your assistance! Allan H. Posted January 27, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 27, 2020 Glider pilots could rank from Flight Officer to commissions ranks like 2LT, 1LT and Captain. Early on in the program, Glider Pilots were promoted to Staff Sergeant. Allan

sactroop Posted February 1, 2020 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2020 From my father in laws roster for the 440th TCG, I've been able to identify Glider pilots ranging in rank in that group from Staff Sergeant to at least Captain while serving in the ETO. Most were Flight Officer to some level of Lieutenant.
