Getting the Display Room back Together

Recommended Posts

I am sure like many of you, your display room has changed over the years. After a recent move to a new house, I am finally getting my room back to a presentable space. I still have a closet for uniforms and several cabinets filled with other smaller items that still need good homes, but here are some photos of what I have so far. The images needed to be compressed, so they are not as crisp as I hoped. Hope you enjoy the views and thanks for taking a look.

Let's walk around the room, starting with the some uniforms, I plan to add a second level of shelving so I can display more tunics.

This is a great set, all from the same Marine (except the field hat and shoulder boards), dated 1909. I messed up and did not purchase a set of boards that would have gone great with this set.

Small section for some WW1 honors.

A great variation from 1904 to 1918. It took me some time to find the correct Enlisted Full Dress cover but it looks great with the tunic.

On to the Wall of Covers, not nearly as impressive as some of the major USMC collectors out there, but I am working on it. Several of the swords are named, I will have a lot of things to research when I retire.

The tall display case is still a work in progress.

The last wall has some nice 1913 thru WW1 officer sets. The Service Greens are from then Captain F.H. Delano (there is a well see photo of Delano, SgtMaj. Quick, Neville, Lejeune and Butler in Vera Crux, MX.) (the cover is an add-on for display, wish I had the original). The original group had been broken up years ago, I managed to get the tunic and three pairs of pant, then 15 year later I came across a pair of his dress Blues pants, just had to add them to the group. The Tans and Whites are small parts of the Lt. Williamson lot (except the field hat and the EGAs).

So that completes the room, still have a lot of items to display. I love looking over everyone's post to try and get new ideas. Again, hope you enjoyed the views. Thanks, Airwolf

I am guessing several of you may also have the same problem, the spouse likes to keep all of our treasures contained in one room, I managed to get a small display wall in the main part of the house. I need to add some more to it, but at least I don't have to go to the far side ofhe house to see things.

You sir have an amazing collection that is very nicely displayed and focused. Beautiful, and thanks for sharing it here with us to enjoy. I wish I was a little closer so that I could come over, have a beverage or two, and admire it in person!

I don't think some people appreciate the gravity of this collection...it's chalk full of grail items. An original leatherneck, special dress bell crowns, a patrol jacket...and on, and on, and on...

Absolutely fantastic...one could spend two lifetimes trying to amass that assortment

for the cover displays, I used a vertical wall mounting strips for shelving, then took a wood cut-out (like for small plaques) from a hobby store and attached that to the shelving brackets. It allows me to change the display height whenever and I can put more covers in a smaller space as compared to shelves and hat stands.

I can only agree with Brig on the statement about grail items. Your collection, while I have seen larger ones, is simply amazing in terms of the items represented. You have some artifacts in there that I have only seen in museums. Nice job, and your dedication toward presentation is impressive. Thank you for sharing. Kevin

I am eagerly collecting Pre-WWII USMC material. Any Marine Corps Span Am era, WWI, Banana Wars, or China Marine related material is especially sought after.

Excellent display room.

I like the Marine Corps theme.

I have to say that the Devil Dog Haube is quite impressive.
