Hand engraved (?) Purple Heart

I have found this medal on a local auction site. I think it looks like a hand engraved medal. Am I right?

 

Anyone who can help med identify him?

 

I found two matches when I searched his name. Could it be any of them?

I could not find a WWII Killed In Action (KIA) for Howard E. Fleming - This is hand engraving though.

 

I did find that Howard E. Fleming #15087042 was hospitalized for TB in 1944.

 

This medal could belong to either man at this point in the research

A man with this name also served in France during World War One. It could be his. Is this medal for sale in Sverige ?

Very nicely hand engraved. I'm guessing with the minis, this probably belonged to one of the WIA Flemings.

There are at least two WW I guys with this name:

 

Service number 1449974 Medical Department...though I found this guy was not wounded...so it is not him

 

Service number 1453670 138th Infantry...though this is the unit he went over with, and maybe not stayed with

Yes this medal is for sale in Sweden. This is the second engraved PH I have seen for sale in 10 years.

 

I guess figuring out to whom it belonged to will be very difficult. Many possibilities both from WW1 and WWII. I appreciate all of you guys trying to help me.

 

My knowledge in research is very limited. I like the medal but not sure how much I will bid given that I may never find out more about it.
