patches Posted January 24, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2020 Since there isn't a dedicated topic on this, thought t would be a great idea for a new topic. Items to be posted will be all shirts, sweat or T or those sleeveless athletic ones where a unit logo or even a camp, base, fort or on. So any interested parties to please add them as you get them. Starting with the two oldest examples I have found so far, ths Doughboy of the 90th Division with the T&O of his divisional shoulder patch on a Athletic vest, photo I presume in Germany in 1919. patches Posted January 24, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted January 24, 2020 And this one, not sure WWI or 1920, here a Atheltic vest (Though it might be a swimming top which could double as a sports vest) with the Army Air Corps Rondel, location and unit unknown. patches Posted January 24, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted January 24, 2020 Jumping years and years and years ahead to the Summer of 1979, we see the PT Shirt worn at that time by Combat Support Company of the 1st Battalion 18th Infantry 1st Infantry Division at Ft Riley Kansas, their company motto, CSC STING OF DEATH, The Company's First Shirt, Vietnam Combat Infantry Vet 1st Sergeant Issac Guest Jr gets ready to lead the company to PT, the days of fatigue pants and bloused combat boots . patches Posted January 24, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted January 24, 2020 Another one from the 70s, this the PT Shirt of one of the Companies of the 1st Battalion 501st Infantry (Air Assault) 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Summer of 1975, note the Dark Blue Beret on the Officer or NCO running along side the team. patches Posted February 7, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted February 7, 2020 A Sergeant, probably M/Sgt, at the 101st Abn Div jump school in summer of 1956 wearing a 187th AIR PT T-Shirt, believe the various units of the 101 had cadre here and would wear different shirts. Of note is the wear of the Black Cap at this time, a trademark as it would became for jump instructors. Visiting the location is 3rd Army Commander Thomas F. Hickey, himself a Parachute Officer, who apparently went Airborne after WWII. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Francis_Hickey_(general) Have IDed the 101 Brigadier General as one Charles H. Chase, can't find a photo of him at this time, but it probably is him The Operative paragraph. January 1956 was a month filled with great excitement and joy for Charlie. The 101st Airborne Division was designated as the test organization for the new Pentomic Division. Charlie was assigned as Assistant Division Commander and promoted to the rank of brigadier general. He was back with his great love, the 101st Airborne http://old.506infant...iarticle08.html The other BG is unidentified at this time, he is as we see in the XVIII Airborne Corps. If anyone can ID hm please add that

75Raider Posted March 3, 2020 Share #9 Posted March 3, 2020 From my personal collection. 36th Inf Div, 142nd Inf Reg t shirt. The logo is a velvet type iron-on. Sorry for the sideways pic. This is my first post.
Salvage Sailor Posted March 4, 2020 Share #10 Posted March 4, 2020 Two of mine from the 1970's Another dive shirt, this is the reverse, the front has the same crest over the heart but smaller ....and another which I had made at Subic Bay, P.I.while aboard USS GRASP (ARS-24) Yours Truly wearing the P.I. made skivvy shirt underway in the Philippine Sea. I'm on the port bridge wing and the pilot house (bridge) is through the open hatch behind me. It's also where the chart table is for the QM watchstanders. My RD/OS station in CIC (about the size of a walk in closet on a Diver class ARS) is to my left through the open green hatch and the photo is taken from the 20MM gunmount in front of me. The Signal Bridge is above me to the viewers right. It's also where the 40MM Bofors and .50 Ma Deuce mounts are along with the 'Big Eyes' binoculars and our carbon arc searchlight. I'm shooting bearings with the alidade atop the gyro repeater, preparing to set a four point moor for diving ops. This is also a good example of how you wear sound powered phones, one earphone on, one earphone off, so you can hear the circuit chatter and also what's going on around you.
