Looks to be a later style with the markings on the hand guard.

I Collect USMC WWII uniforms, gear, patches, insignia. medals and ribbons. I also sell and trade Militaria of primarily the U.S. Military.

Yes, I think it is original WWII. See Bill Walters book, page 393.

From Frank Trzaska' January 2006 Knife World article "The USMC 1219C2 Of WWII, Part 2": "They made the guard marked chrome plated knives for the Naval Advanced Base units.....".
