KommandoPost Posted January 15, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 15, 2020 Would anyone lucky enough to own an original Paramarine jacket (or an accurate repro of one) be willing to provide me with measurements for the front slant pockets? I am trying to convert a Chinese P42 repro into a Paramarine jacket. Don't worry, the repro will be permanently marked with a permanent marker under the pockets in such a way that the garment would need to be destroyed in order to remove the marking. Besides the pocket flap dimensions, I also need the slant angle of the pockets. It's hard for me to get this from the numerous reference pictures on the internet since they are all taken at different angles. DesertRatTom Posted January 15, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 15, 2020 You might check www.sarcoinc.com they promote their Rhodesian utilities and even if the cammo colors are wrong, they should be usable for pattern making. Since you're starting from scratch in this, also consider making the pockets angle 5-10o off. They will still look right but won't pass muster as genuine. kammo-man Posted January 17, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 17, 2020 Ok Here you go. I measured my shirt But its displayed on the beach side but same as jungle. Angled pocket 8 inches at top. 9 inches long at longest point at flap. 4 inches deep BUTTON in middle. Pop stud. inside bellowed pocket 10 inches deep, 8 inches wide. 4 inches top angle from chest central seam. Good luck and show your results. Probably the toughest part will be the pop studs on the pockets. Dont forget the shirt like cuffs on the sleeves. They are same as an M-43 field jacket in size. I hope this helps. owen

KommandoPost Posted April 19, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted April 19, 2020 I found some time to work on this project tonight. Here's the muslin prototype parts pinned to the repro before I commit to cutting apart the donor repro shirt with a huge thanks for kammo-man's measurements. Turns out my photo analysis based estimations were off by about 1/2 an inch, too big or small at random. I removed the snaps on the item and I will need to take in the jacket's opening seam since the distance between the opening seam and the snaps is way too large (on the real item, the snaps are right at the opening whereas here there is an extra 0.5 inch or so of material that also obscures part of a pocket flap. How does it look?
