Toccoa20 Posted January 10, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2020 I have not been able to id this patch/insignia. it measures 5.5 x 7.5 cm. (2.1 x 2.9 inch) On red felt, with two crossed, flaming torches. The patch is in good condition. I have bought in Salt Lake City together with other US patches. And that is why I still think it is US, but might it be foreign? All information will be appreciated. Thanks for looking.
Reforger Posted January 10, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2020 While it has torches like some American insignia, it reminds me of a French patch.
Toccoa20 Posted January 10, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted January 10, 2020 Thanks for the thought. If it is indeed French, any ideas on the army, unit etc.?
Andrew Posted January 10, 2020 Share #4 Posted January 10, 2020 Almost certainly a French lozenge. There are many, many varieties of these.
Toccoa20 Posted January 12, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted January 12, 2020 Thanks Andrew and Reforger. After some more digging ( thanks to your tips) I have found it. It is indeed French, 1945 enlisted model SSI of the French Army SEA ( Service des Essence des Armees…..fuel service of the army) If you might be interested: www.symboles-et-traditions.fr Again, thanks for the help.
