BigJim Posted January 10, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2020 This was on the discharge of a Staff Sgt that was a member of the 29th Bn of the 7th Reg of the Field Art Repl Center at Fort Sill, with 2 yrs & 7 months of overseas service. It says the overseas destination he went to was “Mercury”, he arrived back in the US on April 10, 1944 & was discharged in September of 45. I think this might have something to do with the Atomic Bomb Project? He only has the American Theatre Medal, ADSM & CGM Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The project did not really kick off until mid-1942. Please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhattan_Project The US Navy, and presumably the US Army, used code names for locations during WWII.
