Candids - Can anyone identify these soldiers? WWI or earlier?

Had a family funeral this past weekend and came across a small set of pictures that appear to be candids of guys goofing off from WW1. They are on AZO postcards (4 triangle up). We are trying to figure out if some might have been family members. Best I have been able to determine is this is US Army and the guy in the front is a First Sergeant. I have not been able to find anything about the collar insignia - some have CWC and others say just WC.

Any insight you could give me would be much appreciated!

Those uniforms look to be Spanish American war era uniforms. The campaign caps they have look like hats that I have seen in pictures of that era. I'm no expert in this area but that is my guess. Another note is that the soldiers with cowboy looking hats are the ones i'm referring to.

Cadets, Sons of Veterans, you name it, but by the insignia on the hats, the age of a couple of the boys, I 'd say not US Army.
