Steve B. Posted March 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2007 Hi guys- I picked these patches up at the local antique show last weekend. I do not collect Navy stuff, so I will be selling them. All are patches for U.S. submarines, and I found lots of info on the subs on the internet. IIRC, the Caiman was built late in WWII, and the Whale and the Permit were both 50s-60s attack subs. The patches were being sold by a woman who said they were her ex-husband's, and he had been in the navy until he retired. The Caiman patch is very floppy, and has what looks to me like a muslin backing. If anyone can give me more info on these patches regarding era, where they were made, value, etc. I'd be most grateful. Thanks! Steve
Steve B. Posted March 9, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted March 9, 2007 The Whale and Permit patches appear to be standard U.S.-style full-embroidered patches. The Whale patches has a very subtle color change from the center to the outer edge of the central yellow area. Thanks for any info on these patches! vintageproductions Posted March 9, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2007 Tha Caiman patch is definately Japanese made, while the Whale and the Permit are US manufactured. Hope this helps. Bob
