Scarecrow Posted December 27, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 27, 2019 My latest, last and best acquisition of 2019. A grouping of items belonging to WASP Jean E. McCart, class 44-W-4. As you can see the grouping contains her A-9 flight helmet, with attached leather name tag. A photo in the cockpit of a T-6 wearing what I believe to be this helmet. A smaller framed photo, her Certificate of Service and a restaurant group photo of Jean with 7 other WASPs. Each of the 7 wrote a little note in the margins of the photo. Flightpath Posted December 28, 2019 Share #7 Posted December 28, 2019 Like I said, very nice, but it's not a T-6 in the larger photo, she's sitting in the rear seat of a Ryan PT-22. In the small photo it looks like she is in the rear cockpit of a Fairchild PT-19.
Flightpath Posted December 28, 2019 Share #8 Posted December 28, 2019 Ok, looking at a lot of photos I'm not 100% sure other than both are open cockpit aircraft, the larger photo may be a PT-22...…. there might have been slight variations in the cockpit opening and windshields. Scarecrow Posted December 29, 2019 Author Share #10 Posted December 29, 2019 Ok, looking at a lot of photos I'm not 100% sure other than both are open cockpit aircraft, the larger photo may be a PT-22...…. there might have been slight variations in the cockpit opening and windshields. Flightpath, You are 100% correct that both photos show her in open cockpit aircraft. Thank you for pointing that out. I should have said in my description that it showed her in the cockpit of a trainer aircraft,

Scarecrow Posted January 31, 2020 Author Share #16 Posted January 31, 2020 Just a quick followup. I was able to acquire a 4th little grouping from a 4th seller. Her estate items must have been scattered to the 4 winds. I spoke to one of the sellers and he said at the estate sale her things were all over the house and the WASP items were not all in one place. Anyhow here is the latest acquisitions of her items. A certificate of service from Greenwood Army Air Field and a leather Fifinella WASP patch with her nickname "MAC".
